Description
In June 1775 George Washington was made Commander-in-Chief of the American Continental Army and this splendid mounted figure depicts him in the uniform of the period. It was not until September 1783 after many years of hard struggle and heavy losses, that under the General, the American nation received their independence. – Taken from the 11th edition catalogue (1974)
